For three generations, the Goranson family has farmed land in Maine. Now, thanks to a loan from Mercy Partnership Fund investee Coastal Enterprises Inc. (CEI), Goranson Farm has integrated environmentally friendly practices to support the organic farm’s sustainability efforts.

Goranson Farm in Dresden, Maine, has been a family certified organic farm for many years, producing farm-raised meats, specialty potatoes, and maple syrup, just to name a few. To continue the use of innovative practices on the farm, Goranson Farm requested CEI financing to increase its sustainable practices. Goranson Farm used the CEI loan and other resources to install four ground-mounted solar trackers, which offset 90% of the farm’s electricity needs. Once the loan has been paid off, the solar energy will become a revenue stream for the farm to help them continue to produce quality organic food. The Maine-based CEI, a community development corporation and community development financial institution that focuses on underserved communities, is one of 60 mission-driven investees in Mercy Partnership Fund’s portfolio. Learn more about Mercy Partnership Fund’s mission and impact.
