Bryan J. Pini, CFA, CPA,
is the president and chief investment officer of Mercy Investment Services. Prior to joining the organization in September 2007, Bryan was the treasurer and chief investment officer of Saint Louis University. Previously, he served as the director of finance and administration for the Jewish Federation of St. Louis and the director of treasury services for Sisters of Mercy Health System. Bryan holds a bachelor of science degree in accounting from Bradley University and a master of business administration degree in finance from Washington University. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst, a Certified Public Accountant, and a member of numerous professional and community organizations.


Rebecca Kile
joined the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas as director of finance and administration in August 2008. She has more than 15 years of experience in banking, finance and financial reporting. Prior to joining the Sisters of Mercy, Rebecca spent seven years as an assistant vice president for the mortgage division of Citigroup, Inc. Her responsibilities included financial and regulatory reporting for CitiMortgage Inc., its subsidiaries and related mortgage entities, with assets of $103 billion. Rebecca holds a bachelor of science degree in finance from Southwest Missouri State University and a master of business administration degree in business administration from Lindenwood University.


Susan Smith Makos
joined the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas as director of social responsibility in November 2008. Susan served in a variety of roles in more than 20 years with Catholic Healthcare Partners, a health system based in Cincinnati, Ohio. Since 2006, her role has been as social responsibility investment adviser, providing direction to social responsibility activities in its investment programs. Prior to that, Susan served for six years as executive vice president. She has served as a member of the board of Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility since 2008, and its board chairperson since 2010. She currently serves as a member of the board of several other organizations. Susan holds a bachelor of arts degree cum laude in mathematics and Spanish from Kenyon College and a juris doctor degree cum laude from Indiana University. She is licensed to practice law in Ohio.


Corinne Florek, OP,
has worked in the field of community economic development as an investment manager, educator, consultant, financial administrator, and strategic planner. Her work has focused on using capital innovatively to empower low-income people. Sr. Corinne received an MBA from the University of Notre Dame and has worked with a number of loan funds, including the Institute for Community Economics in Massachusetts, the Catholic Campaign for Human Development in Washington, D.C., the Adrian Dominican Sisters community investment program, and Keystone Community Ventures and Women’s Initiative in San Francisco. Currently, Sr. Corinne manages the Mercy Partnership Fund and the Religious Communitites Investment Fund, which is sponsored by 10 Catholic religious women's organizations. She has served on numerous boards, and currently serves on the loan committee of Partners for the Common Good and as the treasurer for WAGES, a nonprofit organization that develops eco-friendly housecleaning cooperatives with low-income Latina women.


Valerie Heinonen, OSU,
is consultant on corporate social responsibility and shareholder advocacy for Mercy Investment Program; the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas-Detroit Charitable Trust; the Dominican Sisters of Hope; and the Ursuline Sisters of Tildonk-U.S. Province. Sr. Valerie co-chairs the Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility (ICCR) committee on human trafficking, and, informally, coordinates investor work on DOD and private prison/immigration contractors. Previously, she was ICCR Executive Director Interim and ICCR program director for global finance, militarism, Burma and the maquiladoras. Sr. Valerie is an active member of coalitions/networks addressing those issues as well as affordable housing, environmental health and indigenous peoples. She currently serves as board member of the Leviticus 25:23 Alternative Fund.


Amanda LePoire
joined the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas as Project Manager in October 2008. Amanda previously worked as a communications specialist for the Sisters of Mercy, Regional Community of St. Louis, and as a public relations assistant for CoxHealth, a multi-hospital health system in southwest Missouri. Amanda holds a bachelor of journalism degree in magazine journalism from the University of Missouri and a master of arts in media communications management from Webster University.


Marilyn Scheib
joined the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas as executive assistant in October 2008. Marilyn joined the Sisters of Mercy, Regional Community of St. Louis, in 1998, where she provided high-level administrative support to the regional leadership team for more than 10 years. Prior to joining the Sisters of Mercy, Marilyn spent time in various sales administration, business transformation, customer service and office management positions with Petrolite Corporation and Noonan Appraisers. Marilyn holds a bachelor of science degree in business management and marketing from Maryville University.
