Since 2001, the U.S. Department of State has released an annual Trafficking in Persons Report, which identifies the international nature and scope of human trafficking, as well as how individual governments address it. Countries are ranked based on their efforts to comply with the minimum standards for the elimination of human trafficking, as defined in the Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA).
This map shows how the State Department ranked each country in 2011, based on the country’s efforts to curb human trafficking. The full report, with a detailed description of each country’s work, is available here.
